Research Road Safety
Introduction
Not only since the term “Vision Zero” has become widely known have we been working with our clients to make roads safer and effectively reduce the number of traffic accident victims. For effective road safety management, the underlying causes of traffic accidents must be researched in order to develop the basis for a sustainable increase in traffic safety. PTV Transport Consult contributes to this with research projects on a wide range of aspects of road safety work.
Project Description
Our tasks in carrying out research projects include:
- Literature analyses
- Analysis and interpretation of accident events
- Collection and evaluation of traffic behavior
- Processing and linking of datasets on accidents, traffic events, and infrastructure
- Description of causal relationships and development of complex accident models
- Description of safety levels and effectiveness of (road) traffic facilities
- Derivation of possible measures and their evaluation
- Development of standardized assessment methods for road safety work
- Determination of key figures for road infrastructure safety management procedures
- Support and evaluation of pilot trials
- Conception, implementation, and evaluation of surveys (stakeholders and road users)
